Haunted Planet Studios makes location-based augmented reality games, in particular for historical sites. Our first game called Falkland Ghost Hunt was set in Falkland Palace, Scotland and ran as a market trial for twelve days in August 2010 and nine days in October 2010, culminating in a Halloween Special called Palace of the Paranormal...
The game used satellite positioning technology and augmented reality to bring ghosts, banshees and even Mary Queen of Scots back to life within the confines of the palace gardens. Game players used a radar-enabled paranormal detection device to hunt down the ghostly apparitions before proving their existence to the world by capturing their images and recording their disembodied voices.
The Falkland Ghost Hunt was offered in association with the National Trust for Scotland and ZOLKc. Haunted Planet Studios is a spin-off from the National Digital Research Centre in Ireland.
